Enterprise Software

Legal software that respects context, custody and access

We design matter and document workflows with explicit permissions, retention and evidence trails, while leaving legal judgement with qualified professionals.

Capabilities

What this service delivers

01

Matter and case management

We organise parties, activities, documents, tasks and financial information around a consistent matter record. Configurable stages support practice variation without losing portfolio visibility.

02

Document workflows

Templates, versioning, review and approval routes make document status explicit. Generated documents retain source data and template versions for later explanation.

03

Deadline and obligation tracking

Rules create reminders and escalation around recorded dates and responsible roles. Critical deadlines remain visible for human confirmation rather than relying on silent automation.

04

Secure client collaboration

Portals provide scoped exchange, requests and status updates without exposing internal notes. Access expiry, download policy and audit events support confidential work.

05

Legal search and AI assistance

Permission-aware search and retrieval help users locate internal knowledge and matter evidence. AI output includes sources and review states, and is not presented as legal advice.

06

Legal billing integration

Time, fee arrangements, expenses and invoice review connect to finance systems through defined ownership. Adjustments and approvals remain traceable.

How the engagement runs

01

Map matters and information risk

We follow actual work from intake through closure, including conflicts, restricted matters and exceptions. Retention and jurisdiction questions are flagged for authorised legal and records owners.

02

Design permissions and records

Matter roles, document classes, metadata and audit events are modelled before broad interface work. Threat modelling covers mistaken sharing and privileged-content exposure.

03

Build representative workflows

High-value journeys are delivered with search, notifications and integrations. Tests verify isolation, version history and deadline behaviour as well as ordinary completion.

04

Migrate and adopt

Documents and metadata are profiled and moved through rehearsed batches. Role-based training and access review accompany rollout because configuration alone cannot establish information discipline.

01

Matter context should govern information

Legal data rarely fits a flat document drive. Parties, conflicts, confidentiality walls, jurisdictions and deadlines all affect who may see or act on a record. We centre the architecture on matters and explicit roles, with exceptions that are granted and reviewed rather than inherited accidentally.

Search indices, previews and backups must respect the same restrictions as the primary store. A secure document repository can still leak information through filenames, snippets or notifications if permissions are applied only at download time.

02

Documents need provenance and lifecycle

Draft, reviewed, executed and filed are materially different states. Version history records authorship and review, while immutable final artefacts can be retained with checksums and signing evidence where required. Template automation stores the inputs and template version that produced an output.

Retention and legal hold requirements vary by organisation and jurisdiction, so authorised owners define policy. The software applies holds, disposition workflows and evidence of action without pretending that a generic default is legal advice.

  • Version and approval history
  • Retention and hold workflows
  • Exportable custody evidence
03

AI assistance requires restrained design

Retrieval can help locate clauses, chronology and prior work, but plausible language may omit decisive context. We preserve citations to source passages, isolate matter permissions and make review status visible. Generated text is a draft for qualified assessment, not an autonomous legal conclusion.

Evaluation uses representative documents, ambiguous queries and restricted-content tests. Accuracy is considered alongside missed evidence and inappropriate disclosure. Provider data terms, logging and residency are reviewed before confidential material is sent to any model service.

04

Migration is a classification problem

Legacy shares and case systems often contain duplicate documents, inconsistent matter identifiers and personal filing conventions. We profile metadata, define defensible mappings and route uncertain records for review instead of placing everything in a catch-all category.

A trial migration tests permissions, links, search quality and chain-of-custody reports. Reconciliation counts records and exceptions by matter and class. Adoption then focuses on filing discipline, restricted sharing and deadline ownership, not just feature navigation.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you build custom case or matter management software?

Yes. We model the practice’s matter types, roles, documents, deadlines and integrations, while authorised legal and records owners confirm policy and jurisdiction-specific requirements.

How do you protect confidential legal documents?

Protection includes matter-scoped authorisation, encryption, controlled sharing, secure search, audit events and careful handling of backups and previews. Organisational access review remains essential.

Can AI review or draft legal documents?

AI can assist with retrieval, extraction, comparison and drafting, but output requires qualified human review. We add citations, permission controls and evaluation rather than representing generated text as legal advice.

Can you migrate documents from shared drives?

Yes, after profiling folder conventions, duplicates, metadata and permissions. Ambiguous classification usually needs input from matter owners, and migration is rehearsed before final cutover.

Does legal software make an organisation compliant?

No. Software can implement approved controls and produce evidence, but compliance depends on applicable law, configured policy, operation and qualified oversight.
